Why Learn to Play Guitar
Learning to play a guitar offers a lot of benefits. If there's one thing you should learn in your lifetime, it's how to play an instrument. Here are some reasons why:
Playing Guitar Improves Your Mind
Scientific studies have shown that children who are exposed to music, or those who play an instrument do better in school than those who don't. Recent research also suggests that musical exposure may help to develop a child's reading age, IQ and the development of areas of the brain. Adults can also benefit from learning to play an instrument as it helps to keep the mind alert and remain active eventually helping to sharpen the memory.
Learning Guitar Teaches Discipline
Music is another language so learning to play an instrument is like learning to speak another language making it a rewarding challenge. One of the most important qualities great musicians possess is discipline. You have to be disciplined in order to master playing guitar, setting aside time each day to practice. |

Student Testimonial
"Compared with the group music lessons we've tried, I really feel the value in one-on-one guitar lessons. Anthony's patient and encouraging teaching style means that Leo feels challenged, but not overwhelmed. He really feels like he's making progress at his own pace and learning to read music and play some pretty cool songs - so he loves going to guitar lessons with Anthony!"
Linda North, parent of Leo, aged 8

Playing Guitar Can Relieve Stress
Just like mellow, soothing music can help you feel more relaxed playing an instrument can do that and more, especially when you're the one playing. Playing guitar is a great escape from the stresses of the day at school or work.
Playing Guitar Can Create A Sense of Achievement
If you're a beginner initially learning to play guitar can be frustrating. However once you've mastered your first song, it’s one of the most satisfying feelings you can have. Even if it's just a simple piece you'll never forget the first song you mastered. You are one more step closer to achieving your goal of being a compentent and better guitarist and that is certainly something to be proud of. As you progress in learning the guitar your sense of achievement will continue to grow. The first song I learnt was Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles which is just 2 chords E minor and C major but the sense of achievement being able to strum along with the 2 chords to the CD was really exciting.
